Module 18 Multimedia Presentation by Alex Vincent ENG4U
Brief Summary & Thesis
Summary: The Glass Castle is a memoir of the childhood life of Jeannette Walls. This memoir takes a look into the dysfunctional and unique family of Walls. The father is an intelligent engineer who hoped to find gold, get rich and build a "Glass Castle". Although, he would become destructive and dishonest when he drank constantly. The mother of Jeannette Walls only cared about herself and her art. The Walls children learned to take care of themselves at a very young age and eventually found their way to New York.
Thesis: The future successes of a person is not dependent on their childhood. This is shown when Jeannette goes through her difficult childhood and manages to be successful because of her being optimistic and resilient to challenges she comes across.
